Kerim'de ?srafil aleyhisselam'n ad?ndan söz edilmemektedir. Ancak ?srafil aleyhisselam?n görevlerinden ayetler ile söz edilmi?tir. ?branice'de kelimenin manas? "Allah'?n Kulu" olarak adland?r?lm?? ve belirtilmi?tir. Allah-u Teala her meleklerine bir görev vermi?tir. ?srafil aleyhisselam?n görevi de ayetler ile belirlenmi?tir.

Hz. ?srafil aleyhisselam sur'a üfleyece?i için ona sur mele?i de denilmektedir. ?srafil aleyhisselam'?n sura üflemesi ile ilgili pek çok hadis yer almaktad?r. Gerek ?slami kaynaklar gerekse de farkl? kaynaklardan ?srafil aleyhisselam'a dair pek çok derin bilgi yer almaktad?r. Peygamber efendimiz Hz. Muhammed (S.A.V) ?srafil'e yüceli?inden dolay? Allah'a bol bol dua etmi?tir. ?srafil aleyhisselam Allah'?n dört büyük meleklerinden biri olup meleklerin aras?nda ki en yüce meleklerden olarak bildirilmi?tir. Sur mele?i olarak bildirilen ?srafil aleyhisselam'?n Allah-u Teala'n?n emrini bekleyen bir melek oldu?u bilinmektedir.
