Hz. ?brâhim'in Sâre adl? e?inden o?lu olan ?shâk Tevrat ve Kur'an'da ad? geçen bir peygamberdir, yahudilerin ?brâhim'den sonra ikinci atas?d?r ve yakla??k olarak milâttan önce XIX-XVIII. yüzy?llarda ya?am??t?r. ?shak isminin Arapça sahak kökünden geldi?i bilinir. Tevrat'ta nakledildi?ine göre Hz. ?brâhim ve e?i Sâre'nin çocuklar? olmaz. ?brâhim'in bu duruma üzülmesi ve çocuk istemesi üzerine Rab ona çocu?unun olaca??n? ve zürriyetinin seman?n y?ld?zlar? gibi ço?alaca??n? müjdeler (Tekvîn, 15/2-5). Ancak Sâre'nin yine de çocu?u olmay?nca dönemin âdeti gere?i câriyesi Hâcer'i kocas?na verir ve ?brâhim'in Hâcer'den ?smâil adl? o?lu do?ar (Tekvîn, 16/1-4; 15-16). Daha sonra Hz. ?brâhim doksan dokuz, Sâre seksen dokuz ya??nda iken Allah, Sâre'nin de bir çocuk do?uraca?? müjdesini verir (Tekvîn, 17/1, 17). ?brâhim bunu duyunca yüz üstü dü?er, güler ve kendi kendine, "Yüz ya??nda olan?n bir o?lu do?ar m?? Ve doksan ya??nda olan Sâre do?urur mu?" diye söylenir. Allah, Sâre'nin bir erkek çocuk do?uraca??n? bildirir, do?acak çocu?a ?shak ad?n?n konmas?n? ister, onunla ve ondan sonra zürriyetiyle ahdini ebedî ahid olarak sabit k?laca??n? aç?klar (Tekvîn, 17/17-19).



?shak'?n çocuklu?u ve gençli?iyle ilgili olarak Tevrat'ta sadece iki hadise yer al?r. ?lkine göre ?shak sütten kesildikten sonra ?brâhim'in verdi?i ziyafet esnas?nda ?smâil karde?i ?shak'a güldü?ü için Sâre onun evden uzakla?t?r?lmas?n? ister. Tanr? ona, "Sâre'nin sana söyledi?i her ?eyde onun sözünü dinle; çünkü senin zürriyetin ?shak'ta ça?r?lacakt?r" dedi?i için Hz. ?brâhim, ?smâil ile annesi Hâcer'i oradan uzakla?t?r?r (Tekvîn, 21/8-14; 25/9-11). Tevrat'a göre ?smâil ile ?shak tekrar babalar?n?n cenazesinde bir araya gelirler (Tekvîn, 25/9-10). ?kinci olay da onun kurban edilmek istenmesiyle ilgilidir. Tevrat'a göre kurban edilmek istenen ?shak't?r. Onun bu esnada kaç ya??nda oldu?u belli de?ilse de kurban takdimesinde nelerin gerekli oldu?unu bildi?ine ve yak?lan kurban takdimesi için odun ta??yabildi?ine göre (Tekvîn, 22/6) delikanl?l?k ça??nda bulunmal?d?r. Yahudi tarihçi Josephus'un dedi?ine göre ?shak yirmi be?, rabbilerin hesab?na göre de otuz yedi ya??na geldi?inde (EJd., II, 482) Allah, ?brâhim'i denemek için sevdi?i biricik o?lu ?shak'? Moriya diyar?na götürüp bir da? üzerinde yak?lan kurban olarak takdim etmesini emreder (Tekvîn, 22/1-2). ?brâhim bu emir üzerine ?shak'la beraber iki u?a??n? da yan?na alarak Moriya diyar?na gider. Yolda ?shak babas?na kurban edilecek kuzuyu sorar. Babas? kuzuyu Allah'?n tedarik edece?ini söyler. Belirtilen yere vard?klar?nda ve ?brâhim ?shak'? kesmeye te?ebbüs etti?inde Rabb'in mele?i müdahale eder, imtihan? ba?ard???n? bildirerek ?shak'?n yerine kurban edilmek üzere bir koç verir. ?brâhim bu imtihanda ba?ar?l? oldu?u için mübarek k?l?n?r, zürriyetinin ço?alt?laca?? müjdelenir (Tekvîn, 22/1-19).

 Kuteybe gibi âlimler ?shak'?n kurban edilmek istendi?ine kanidirler. Abdullah b. Mes'ûd da ?shak peygamberden "zebîhullah" diye söz eder. ?slâmî kaynaklarda Hz. Yûsuf'un M?s?r kral?na, "Benimle beraber yemek yemek mi istiyorsun? Ben, ?brâhim Halîlullah'?n o?lu ?shak Zebîhullah'?n o?lu Ya'k?b Nebiyyullah'?n o?luyum" dedi?i rivayet edilir. Baz? kaynaklarda (meselâ bk. Sa'lebî, s. 92-93) ?shak'?n kurban edili?iyle ilgili birçok hadis rivayet edilirse de bunlar?n hiçbiri sahih hadis mecmualar?nda bulunmamaktad?r. Bu son kaynaklardaki hadislerde Hz. ?shak sadece ismen zikredilmektedir.

Kur'an ve hadisler d???ndaki ?slâmî kaynaklara göre Sâre, Hz. ?brâhim'in amcas? Harran'?n (Süddî'nin nakline göre Harran melikinin) k?z?d?r. Lût kavmini helâk etmekle görevli melekler Allah'?n emriyle ?brâhim'e u?ray?p ona ve Sâre'ye bir çocuklar? olaca??n? müjdeleyince bunu duyan Sâre gülmü? ve Cebrâil'e bu i?in olabilmesinin alâmetini sormu?tur. Cebrâil eline kuru bir dal al?p parmaklar? aras?nda yuvarlam??, neticede dal ye?ermi?tir. Bunun üzerine Hz. ?brâhim, "O do?acak çocuk Allah'a kurband?r" demi?tir. ?shak, Esav ve Ya'k?b'un do?umlar?ndan sonra 100 y?l daha ya?am??, 170 ya??nda vefat etmi?tir. Çocuklar? onu babas? ?brâhim'in yan?na defnetmi?lerdir (a.g.e., s. 81-102). ?slâmî kaynaklarda geçen ?shak'la ilgili bilgiler yahudi kaynaklar?ndakilerle büyük benzerlik gösterir.
